"Leon Gurvitch presented with his colleagues modern
jazz sounds mixed with old klezmer elements. The arranger made traditional
Jewish folk music merge with modern rhythms. ... And the audience seemed
to be fascinated by the young musicians who performed on stage with a
lot of charm and humour".
Westdeutsche Zeitung
The five excellent musicians from five different nations joined together
with the band leader Leon Gurvitch from Belarus (piano, composition),
the vocalist Inna Vysotska from the Ukraine, Vladimir Karparov from Bulgaria
(saxophone, clarinet), Omar Rodriguez Calvo from Cuba (bass), and the
drummer Dimitris Christides from Greece. The band has featured in such
festivals as for example “Leverkusener Jazztage”, „JazzTage
Hamburg“ (NDR), International Jewish Music Festival in Amsterdam,
festival of Jewish culture in Rheinland, festival of Belarusian culture
and festival of Dialogue of four cultures in Poland, International festival
9 Gates in Prague, and International Yuri-Bashmet-Festival.
The group went on several Germany tours with the program “Klezmer
meets jazz”. A unique cross-cultural project that creates a new
image of jazz in Europe by original synthesis of east European folklore
and influences of modern improvisation.
Leon Gurvitch Jazz-Project presents an outstanding project with a famous
trumpeter Frank London from New York, Klezmatics' founding member and
Grammy-Award winner.

London
He has been featured on SEX AND THE CITY, at the North Sea Jazz Festival
and the Lincoln Center Summer Festival and gave concerts in Carnegie Hall.
London has composed numerous works for theater, dance, and film. In addition
to his work in klezmer music, he is in demand as a sideman, and has performed
or recorded with such diverse artists and groups. London is featured on
over 100 CDs. In 2006 the musician was awarded with Grammy-Award.
"Frank London is one of the most interesting and colorful
figures in the current revival of Jewish music — mistakenly identified
only as Klezmer music — of the last two decades. But London is also
known for injecting a healthy dose of free jazz aesthetic and energy."
