Billy Cobham: "Culture Mix"Billy Cobham´s Culture Mix is a celebration of the universality of jazz. This is a dynamic and refreshingly original combo, each of whose members come from a different country - and the standard of musicianship and imaginative improvisation is at the highest level. On tour with master drummer Billy Cobham are the Danish guitarist Per Gade, Göteborg based Spanish pianist Marcos Ubeda, German bassist Stefan Rademacher, and, from Trinidad, steel drummer Junior Gill.
The quintet´s performance features refreshingly conceived original compositions from Billy Cobham, Stefan Rademacher, Per Gade and Junior Gill, and they are played by the group with intense commitment and flair. The tremendous compatibility which exists among the players demonstrates that it is not where you come from that counts , but how you feel the music. Line-Up: Per Gade (Danmark) - guitar; Stefan Rademacher (Germany) - bass; Marcos Ubeda (Spain/Sveden) - keyboards; Junior Gill (Trinidad) - steel pan, percussion; Billy Cobham (USA) - drums, percussion ProTon books Billy Cobham Says Cobham: "The music is dedicated to every musician whom I have come to perform with that hails from a different region of the world. I consider myself blessed to have been able to work with many individuals whose names may not register in the minds of the people who are unfamiliar with their face or their sound but are familiar with the message provided in the music they create. The music that we have created above reflects this feeling thus the name Culture Mix. You will note that every person involved in the project´s making hails from a different region and has a story to tell just like my own. Hopefully, you will absorb it and find it in the grooves."
